On February, 26th, the World Rock 'n' Roll Confederation (WRRC) announced to cancel or reallocate all russian competitions in 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. This decision has now been supplemented by a "ban of russian athletes and officials from participation in all WRRC competitions and events", among others. Your Rock-n-Swing Dance Portal has decided to impose own restrictions upon members of russian Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll (ARR) and Boogie Woogie (BW) associations, too.
Only two days after their previous resolution, the WRRC has added further measures to sanction the Russian Federation beyond the cancellation of russian events. On February, 28th, president Miriam Kerpan Izak published another statement announcing the amendment of this resolution on their website following another presidium meeting. In their post the WRRC states their "support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) resolution regarding Russia and Belarus". In addition to the cancellation of events on the territory of Russia, the WRRC now bans "athletes and officials, whether national representatives or club teams, from participation in all WRRC competitions and events" and "Russian companies to sponsor and support international competitions, federations, clubs or athletes". The Social Media channels of the WRRC are, however, mute on these amendments so far.
The renewal of the decision comes after calls that a cancellation of events in the Russian Federation were an insufficient single measure. In an open letter to the WRRC and all national federations, the Ukrainian Federation of Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll (UFARR) has called for ban of russian athletes already on February, 26th. Their appeal has received strong support by many, also by your Rock-n-Swing Dance Portal. After the announcement of the cancellation of competitions in Russia, the UFARR has renewed and refined their appeal in another emotional letter on February, 28th.
