The first of three weekend-long Online World Cup (OWC) events 2021 has opened last weekend. With 157 participants across the Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll (ARR) couple and formation danceclasses and the Boogie Woogie (BW) couple categories the OWC was better visited than ever. In the respective Main Classes Maria Zinchenko & Mikhail Ershov (ARR) and Alessia Ghezzo & Dimitri Masotti (BW) took home Gold. Formations Ocean emotion and Party Girls won the Girls and Ladies formation, respectively.
After the initial postponement, finally, the new series of the World Rock 'n' Roll Conferation's (WRRC) Online World Cup took place last weekend. New for this season – all couples could send in two video files, one for the preliminary round, and one for the final. BW couples had different types of music for the preliminary and final rounds, and ARR couples had the opportunity to dance to their own music in the final.
On Saturday, Zinchenko/Ershov lead the field in the Main Class Free Style (MCFS) category with a margin of 0.36 points only to silver medallists Michelle Uhl & Tobias Bludau. Alina Levchenko & Georgy Malkin went for the third place. Couples Evelina Subacheva & Yaroslav Sliunin, Mariia Lykova & Nikita Shabrov and Karina Cséri & László Gábor won the Children, Juveniles and Couple Dance Show (CDS) danceclasses. Among the Girls formations Ocean emotion took top of the podium before The Runway and Stylist. Ladies formation Party Girls (Team) won ahead of Olympic.
